COVID-19 – Important Business Update

- 27 March 2020 -

Never ask another person to do anything that we would not do ourselves

That is just one of the beliefs of our Chairman and Founder, John Chalmers, has held from the day he established Wetherby Group over 49 years ago. He is 84 years of age now, never missed a day’s work and still comes into the office five days a week that is until three weeks ago, to protect his health, he went into self-isolation.

In these difficult times, we have been reactive to a challenging and unplanned situation that changes daily and, in the short term, we have adapted our business very quickly to meet the differing needs of both our employees, customers and the overall business.

After two weeks of extremely long days and nights, forecasting and planning and trying to work through how we deal with this situation, to protect our employees, customers and the overall business we now have a recovery plan to rebuild and recover in the future. However, this plan is not for now.

We have now made a decision, based on the simple premise that we must look after each other. We must protect the health and well-being of our loved ones and support the NHS and the frontline services. Therefore, for a minimum of 3 weeks we will significantly scale back our operations.

Phone lines will still be active to support all our customers and we will communicate regularly to customers, suppliers and partners to ensure our position is always clear.

We convey our gratitude to those who are working on the front line, in our hospitals, emergency services and all key workers and also to all the people that are pulling together in the communities to support the elderly and vulnerable, and for those that can and are volunteering to help across the UK.

The show will go on and we must believe in a stronger, brighter future for all.

Stay home and stay safe.

Best regards

Alex Chalmers
