A Legacy of Excellence:
The Story of Wetherby Laroc Group

1975

Wetherby Laroc Group started as CR Building Services, contracting stone and rendering products, founded by current Chairman John K. Chalmers, as a home improvement company supplying directly to homeowners.

1977

Wetherby Stone Product was started, to move away from contracting to expand, evolve and focus on the manufacture of stone cladding, cement render, and coatings for the building materials sector. The company’s focus on innovation, quality, and customer service has been instrumental in its long-standing success.

1997

In the late 1990s, the company relocated from its Thorp Arch Trading Estate base in Wetherby to a new factory in Ripon. This move enabled further expansion and better production capacity, setting the stage for continued growth. It marked a pivotal moment in the company's history, allowing it to streamline operations and lay the foundation for future success in the manufacturing sector.

2000

In line with the development of various building chemicals, the business expanded into supplying a diverse range of tile adhesives and flooring products, catering to the private-label sector for several well-known household brands. This shift towards high-volume manufacturing paved the way for investments in fully automated production systems.

2006

After a decade of successfully growing the business in the tile adhesive and flooring market, the company reached its capacity at the Ripon site and relocated to a new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Dalton, Thirsk. Alongside this move, a decision was made to exit the private-label manufacturing of tile adhesives and flooring products, resulting in the sale of a portion of the company's assets to Bostik.

2007

Wetherby Laroc Group was established by the current Managing Director, Alex Chalmers, with the vision of becoming an innovative and technology-led manufacturer of through coloured, EWI & thin coat render systems. The company dedicated itself to providing a diverse range of products that align with European technology, specifically designed for the unique weather conditions of the UK to meet the needs of local applicators.

2009

ecorend, now a leading name in the external render industry, launched, becoming the 1st UK manufacturer of Silicone Thin Coat Render Systems and a range of advanced, innovative rendering systems designed to deliver exceptional performance and durability. Formulated using cutting-edge technology and the finest raw materials to ensure superior results, and providing products that contractors love to use and trust. Whether you’re a contractor, builder, or architect, ecorend provides reliable, sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards for quality and environmental responsibility.

2011

The Wethertex brand was re-established to introduce a new range of advanced exterior wall coatings and paint systems, providing cutting-edge solutions that combine durability, weather resistance, and aesthetic appeal. Designed for both residential and commercial projects, Wethertex products are engineered to protect and enhance buildings in even the harshest conditions. With a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality, Wethertex offers the performance and reliability that contractors and builders depend on to deliver exceptional results every time.

2015

Generation 3 technology was introduced; this ground-breaking advancement in building chemistry elevates the application performance of our render systems. After years of rigorous product development and market analysis, this innovative technology was now available, coupled with the patented 365 low-temperature render technology, the developments crystalised Wetherby Laroc Group's status as a market leader in the UK render industry.

2016

Following further significant demand for our technology, we commissioned a state-of-the-art, purpose-built manufacturing plant in Dalton, significantly expanding operations across a 10-acre site. With a move away from paper bags for powder-based products, to PE Waterproof packaging technology. This modern, fully automated facility and packaging technology reflects the company’s commitment to cutting-edge production capabilities and innovation. Under the leadership of Alex Chalmers, Managing Director, the company continues to thrive with ambitious plans for growth and investment, reinforcing its position as a leader in the sector.

2021

We successfully completed a new distribution centre and external stocking facility to meet the rising demand for our products and systems. This facility enhances our capacity to supply our national distribution partners and strategic collaborators efficiently. With increased storage for raw materials, packing, and finished goods, we are now better equipped to ensure timely and complete deliveries.

2023

Wetherby Laroc Group unveiled its new administration and operations offices, designed to foster collaboration and innovation. These modern facilities not only enhance our operational efficiency but also provide a dynamic environment for our dedicated team. With advanced technology and spacious workspaces, we are better equipped to support our customers and drive our commitment to excellence in the sector.

2024

The new Wetherby Laroc Group Training Academy officially launched, offering industry-specific programmes designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of building professionals. These courses focus on practical, hands-on experience and expert-led guidance, equipping participants with the latest techniques and product innovations. Along with advanced site development to enhance the sector-leading low-carbon manufacturing plant, the academy aims to support professionals in staying ahead of industry trends, ensuring they are prepared for the future of construction and sustainability.

2025 & Ahead

We have further ambitious plans which are centred on strengthening the solid foundations we have established over the years; we aim to expand our brands, enhance our product offering, and deepen our relationships with our customers, all while maintaining our commitment to providing the highest quality products and exceptional service levels available in the market.
